Client:

Description:

This family home consists of two identical steel cladded boxes linked together and is situated on the northern ridge of a slopy bushveld site in the heart of Pretoria. With both boxes raised above the natural ground level, the sensation resembles being in a tree house overlooking ‘life’. In plan the home consists of two independent minimalistic homes; one for Regardo and the other for his parents.

The design is orientated toward family life with the open plan kitchen, dining & living area on the one side and the bedrooms on the other (all north facing). A walk through the house feels like walking in a forest with each room becoming a place to take in the view. This home is made up of a rich palette of materials with exposed steel columns anchoring the twin boxes into the bushveld ridgeline.
