This restaurant addition makes a bold statement to leave the rat race behind for some of the best hospitality under the African sun. Peppertree Restaurant forms part of the renowned Opikopi Guesthouse.
Guests enter through a custom-crafted glass door where visitors are transported to an oasis of fine dining in the heart of the Capital City. A façade consisting off-shutter concrete, structural steel and large glass panels, stirs one’s curiosity from the street, while offering a fresh contemporary look to the existing guest house structure.
The interior, glass-wrapped dining space adjoins the outside area via six retractable guillotine window walls operated by hand, allowing Peppertree to completely open to the outdoors.
The tough and low maintenance finishes were carefully selected to complement the building’s raw aesthetic, while at the same time providing a warm sense of cosiness. Other finishes consist of floating timber ceilings, exposed plaster scraped brickwork, steel & polished concrete floors. Art walls, plants and reclaimed objects add a sense of warmth and texture, grounding the space to a human scale.
