Dr. Lize Freislich

Description

House Freislich was constructed on the same spot as the former home of Dr Freislich. The family loved the area but wanted a whole new contemporary home to complement the site. The old home was thus demolished to make way for this 429 m² family home that rises into the surrounding tree canopy. The property is situated on a panhandle plot in Rietondale and forms a secluded hideaway for the family to retreat from the busy city life. The open plan kitchen and family room is situated northern façade of the home and opens up to a screened porch and outdoor kitchenette thus allowing the family to engage their beautiful garden. All the bedrooms are located on the first storey of the northern façade and overlooks the garden and pool area below. A new elongated rectangular pool with a water feature stretches out from under the screened porch. Pivot windows and retractable window walls, as well as a solar water heating system, allows the home to function during unforeseen power outages. The structure hovers over the site and forms a platform to appreciate and enjoy the beautiful surrounding cityscape.
